Rattail is one of the oldest patterns dating back to the 1650's. The name comes from the unique rib down the back of the spoon. This unique detail was kept from the original Roman design, where a tongue of metal was used to join the bowl to the handle. Similar to Old English, it has a ridge in the centre to give definition.
